It's a bit of a weird statement to be like I'm willing to die to be rich because I'm willing to give up my life to chase that dream when that dream isn't really the thing that's gonna make me happy It will provide it will support. It will be able to allow me to do a lot of things But is that really what I'll be willing to die for? So if my answer my own question is no This is talking to my foot.

Welcome to talking to my thoughts the podcast We have open honest and raw conversations with a twist We bring a unique perspective on our thoughts by literally pre recording the things on our minds before talking about them with the group We do this because we believe before you can be open with others.

You first have to be open of yourself Stay up to date with all our content by following us on our show socials At talking to my thoughts and make sure you guys listen to the end to hear our responses to some of your thought-provoking questions My name is Craig aka mr Positive a cheesy motivator with a solution background big dreams and a passion for helping others find and maintain their peace He's got our unlock now in it.

Okay Simon aka SJ. I'm a proud Caribbean St. Lucian man Proud father and I am actually a content creator. So I keep myself busy at all times Thank you Simon and we are actually joined by one of our amazing guests Taj all the way from Dominica Taj Please introduce yourself. Alright guys, so my name is Taj.

I'm from the small island of Dominica this is between Guadalupe and mountainic and I'm very excited to be here today and to speak on my to so that you guys can listen to my thoughts Thank you very much Taj.

So before we actually jump into the conversation We would like to get our listeners to have a bit of an opportunity to get to know who you are a little bit better Taj Just so we could start on the right front foot and really just kind of know Who is the person who's actually on this call right now because they know us already.

So I've got a question for you if you could be any age and Only one age, which one would you choose? I believe it's in I would choose 18. Why is that? This would be a restart to my adulthood You know, so I would have started my wealth journey along Time you know, like six years back. I Like that. Okay. Okay. That's not special Just quickly Sam. What would you choose? What would you have chosen?

Well, if I could choose one age to one age Maybe like 80 17 maybe and I don't even know why this is It's just those that those are the years where there was a lot happening in it It was the excitement years where there was just madness going on It's just nice to kind of relive some of those those memories and those times not that would change anything about it But it was just it was an exciting time.

So that's probably a year that would relive So let's get straight into the topic today's topic is what would we do for the money? Basically around getting rich dying trying and really the money race that we are all in right now So before we really get into the topic we actually usually try to pick a few topics And well a few words that you associate with this this this particular topic.

So When you hear get rich die trying, what words do you think about? What was you think about? I'm gonna ask you Taj first. What was do you think about?

Get rich on a train I Think of poverty I think of poverty in get rich on a train because Most people who are at that stage in their mind where they are to get rich or die trying stage in their minds They usually at a stage where they are currently in poverty and trying to get out on that piece You know, so I think of poverty. I think of poverty for sure.

I kind of associate that with a struggle a struggle and A challenge I guess those are the kind of words that come to me a struggle and a challenge It can go it can go either way when you're thinking about in it as the topic kind of suggests get rich or die trying They can have it end up where it's really you end up in a really good position or you end up in a really bad Position in it. So that's what I think.

There's a there's a bit of a polarization around that. It's one of the other Struggle, which one's gonna win?

For me mine is Left behind and Being flashy as well why do I say left behind because get rich die trying and feels like not everybody's gonna be able to take that type of journey and in flashy is Those who are saying get rich or die trying not often Just there's a flash Being rich but not actually being rich or wealthy you could say so it's a very interesting like a it's a get rich or die Trying to get trying to get rich can be a quick way to die funny enough in my head So yeah, that's that's that's that's our word.

So very interesting. We have a very quite a variation going on So which is good, which is good. We like this. So firstly to kick off this topic We're gonna kind of dive a little bit deeper on the first thought So we're actually going to play a pre recording from Taj About this particular topic and yeah, let's just get straight into it. Let's do what we're good at.

We're good at Get rich or die trying what do I think of when I think of get rich or die trying? This has pretty much been my entire life story Get rich or die trying. I Remembered growing up. I wasn't the most fortunate of children whilst growing up. I've always wanted more. I've always wanted more Thinking about it deeply right now Thinking about it deeply right now.

I've always wanted to be that one person Who would lead the way in my family?

I would open up doors for everyone for my parents or my sibling and Not just for my parents and siblings, but my my country as well by extension because I knows what it takes to be growing up in this country and not have enough money to survive or To be at a place where you cannot afford the things that you want And this is something that I definitely definitely Will not want to be the story of my life Definitely.

I know I had to do something That would have to get me out of my comfort zone To get to where I want to be. Yeah, I remember going to school Going to school I had aspirations of being a doctor. I wanted to be a doctor you know because Doctors usually seem to have a lot of money.

I had aspirations as well of being a politician To be able to impact lives some way some more Because I know what it is to be growing up in a country Where the economic the economy of that country? You know is not At a high level I really know what it is So for me getting rich To be able to open up doors not only for myself Wasn't an option. This was a must.

I Remember working at DigiCell After I was done with school. I went to college after I was done with school And not being happy like I just was not happy at all Why I couldn't get rich at DigiCell. I Couldn't get rich. I couldn't get rich. I wanted to live a wealthy life. I wanted a wealthy lifestyle I was ready to do almost anything To get the lifestyle that I wanted.

I felt I believe right now that I've found a way I believe right now that I've found a way. I believe for sure that I am definitely well on my way right now But I only have two options because I want to help my parents.

I want to help my siblings I want to help the people that I love and care about so right now There's only two options on my plate right now See that I get rich or I die trying but I ain't going down I ain't going down. I ain't going down.

I'm not stopping until I get there My reason is because I have a genuine purpose I have a genuine purpose for wanting to be rich and if I'm rich everybody's rich so See that I die trying or I get rich So my question for you Taj is When you was growing up Did you ever imagine yourself earning more or seeing yourself in others?

Need it be because obviously I guess for your your age, you're obviously exposed to the internet You obviously knew that somebody was earning a lot of money in Dominica My question is did you ever imagine yourself to be one of those people or strive to those people?

This was actually the story of my childhood days this was actually the story of my childhood days ever since I could control my thoughts I've ever imagined myself as I would not necessarily want to use the term rich but being wealthy, you know being wealthy I used to think myself as I said as being a doctor You know as being anything that could get me to being wealthy You know, so this has been the story of my childhood days from my entire childhood even right now in adulthood You know, this has been my entire story I have found myself lost a few times even as a child as well like if this is really possible But this has been my entire story.

I've always imagined myself You know as being wealthy and I always used to feel like I am meant to be wealthy as well So the thought never came up from my mind up till this day You know, we are all in one world. You might have to make you might have to do it a different way But the opportunity is there for everybody, you know, I have life and I'm healthy.

I'm strong So seeing other people do it whether it is in Dominica or out of Dominica was always an inspiration to me If they can I'm always telling myself if somebody can do something then I can do it myself.

So yeah Okay, yeah, I've got a question I guess it's based on your original word that you brought up which is about poverty and obviously one of the things that you mentioned in your voice note was that you you always had the idea of Your aspiration was to find a position in a world which could Get you out of poverty whether it's to be a doctor whether it's to be a politician something which is gonna help fulfill that richness Has there ever been a okay.

So first of all, I guess my first question is what is your experience with poverty and the second part to that is What do you think it will help you to fulfill once you get to that stage of richness? Well in terms of poverty on the poverty aspect of things I I will not see that I Completely grew up in poverty However, my country is filled with poverty.

So I felt like you know, this is me growing up in poverty What would this Fulfill like if I get to that level, what would this fulfill?

To me this would mean the world this would mean the world because I will be able to to achieve my purpose for wanting to do so which is to help others not just My family as I've said but my country by extension if I could go beyond my country And help people even all over the region or even possibly over the world this for me would be success You know, this is success to me Are you willing to die for that?

Am I willing to die for that? I love this question. I love this question Honestly for my family possibly. Yes for my family possibly. Yes There's a hesitation Hesitation Yeah, I would for my mom my my siblings I Believe.

Yeah, my my father, you know these people I know they genuinely love me You know, they they tell me all the time If they have to die to see me alive, they would you know, so why would I not wait for them? I yeah. Yeah The question for both of you is What do you believe the advantages are of being poor over people who are rich?

I Guess or the only advantage I can think of in regards to being poor is It's learning the value and the appreciation is giving you an insight into What you actually have When you're born into richness when you're born into wealth You don't have that sense of value or appreciation which someone that's poor does I think that's the oh, I don't know. It may be the only it's arguable.

But for me, it would be the only Positive, I guess you could get out of being in positive poverty is Learning that appreciation and the value of what you have Quite frankly Simon did hit the nail on his head Simon did hit the nail on his head. You know, he did hit the nail on his head.

I Mean if you grew up rich if you grew up in a rich family, you know Then live in your entire life rich would be like almost nothing to you, you know However, if you did grow up in poverty when you finally have that wealth or certain level of being rich Then listen, this is going to mean the world to you You're going to appreciate it way more than just being rich all your life like if you are rich all your life, it really wouldn't even matter to you at some point, you know, like You know, that's been your entire life story, so I think it did the level of appreciation and The amount that you would value it.

It would be first for sure Ask that question because I'm kind of in between the both of you. So I visit St. Lucia often and also I live in the UK for the people on the who are listening and I Was I was in a high-paid job It's the beginning of my career my first job was 25,000 pounds moving on to like I ended my job where I work for somebody at 55,000 pounds a year which is like What is that in EC dollars?

2.7 a lot like Now funny enough despite that as my years went on I did not want to keep earning more It was for me to find out how I can go but back to St. Lucia as much as possible Why because when I was in St.

Lucia, I learned the simple factor of less equals more That having less actually means that you get to have more in England where there is a lot of money and riches you can say is basically a rich country in comparison There's so many variables So many things to chase so many things to the maintenance of yourself So many even when you get to a 50,000 you're still thinking about how do I get to 70 and how do I get to a hundred?

And there's so many variables involved when you're but for people who are poor there's less variables Obviously water food keep your roof over your head But then you don't have to even you just get by in a sense, which means again you have more mental capacity to really appreciate Where you're at?

Now the two of you both actually compared a person born into poverty and born into riches And the interesting part is a person that transitions from poor to rich Would be very interesting because some people do forget where they're from But why do I even ask this question because even when I go to St.

Lucia funny enough the area that I stay I hang out the most in is the poorest area in my town But they are the most alive all year round all year round which is crazy and And Poor in in St. Lucia and probably in Dominica compared to the UK and the UK you could die being poor But literally die you know housing no food or stuff that you have to find your way to get into a food bank, etc But in Dominica and St.

Lucia, you could probably find someone to give you a plate of food and I love to see the contrast between the two because they always made me wonder is my goal to earn more money or Is my goal to figure out how to make what I have work to its best So when you ask the question would I die for my my my people to get be rich No Because I don't believe the money is the actual answer The actual answer is to how a person can appreciate or figure out what they already have But it would work in both ways not only would you be able to use it what you have to the best of its ability But then you wouldn't need to actually realize you don't have to Gain all too much of it at the same time that the mindset of especially in particular our young black men is Striving to be rich and they're willing to just kill for it as well like even just thinking about Growing up in poverty and just the things that you do just to chase the money whether it's you're going into crime You're going into gangs.

You're doing drugs. You're doing whatever else is it's thinking about What is the way out? What's the what's really what's gonna? What's really the thing that's gonna make you happy?

it's a bit of a weird statement to be like I'm willing to die to be rich because I'm willing to give up my life to Chase that dream when that dream isn't really the thing that's gonna make me happy it will provide It will support it will be able to allow me to do a lot of things But is that really what I'll be willing to die for?

So if my answer my own question is no to be honest, but then we're thinking about again going back to the money race How do we what are the things that we do and the avenues we go in in order to be able to provide and? What's the right way? What's the wrong way? How do we go about doing it? Obviously we have our own journeys with money and we have our own journeys and relationship with How that then?

Provides a life for us What's the best way to do it? That's the question to ask there isn't I don't think there is But people have succeeded in so many different ways We're all kind of an example of that was succeeding in our own ways. We all kind of do different things We've done different things in our life You can clearly see as my key word was struggle.

There's definitely a struggle there and it's What we need to do to help each other get to those places without harming each other at the same time I think that's the biggest thing. It's not about harming each other. It's about supporting each other a Good a good question for you guys before we kind of move on to my one is did you you said that you took? Some wrong roads. Did you ever find yourself having to do?

What you wouldn't say was more morally right for you to get money It all happens in desperation or as to how bad you really want to get out of your current situation So it has happened to me. It has happened to me. I think as well It is also As Simon said influence, you know, so I Have been surrounded with bad influence a few times I have been surrounded by influence and done a few things which I'm not proud of.

I've not done the worst guys Do not mistake me. I've not done the worst I'm not going to be extreme man, but I have done a few things which I am definitely today Definitely not Craig actually that's a question for you to be fair.

Have you ever considered Or ever at a moment gone down or felt like you've gone down the wrong road in order to provide and Get financial gains No, actually, that's that's a very interesting question. I've never actually had that so in London There's a lot of like credit card scams that we've had ability. There's drugs.

There's Kind of little quick bits of fraud And Selling things that just you know, it's not good at all. I've never actually gone on that road on why why why why My parents highly guided me and I was again a person who my parents were my best friends in a sense So they weren't necessary.

I wasn't necessarily on the roads when people used to be finishing after school You know when you hang out after school your friends, I wasn't that person. I was back home straight away Weekends I'm at home on the summer holidays.

I'm at home and I've had a lot of my friends or again me and you Simon We've had our friends gone to prison for fraud for robbery for even for murder all these other things But I've never ever had that case and I've never even considered it that's that's what's crazy and I get my parents I Will only child so my parents brought me in a sense of giving me all the things that I I wanted But with the caveat that you only get what you want if you work for it So I've never been rewarded if I was did bad in school never been rewarded for bad behavior It always had to be consistent work and consistent behavior in a sense So that fixated in my mind that when I go into the real world you are rewarded for the work that you put in a lot of people are going in their adult age having to rediscover who they really are deep down and The funny thing is yeah in the adult world.

We look at children ones call them naive, right? We think they're naive because they don't know the hardships of the world and don't know how to pay bills and they don't know How much it takes to do whatever you have to do?

But the reality is I'm telling you that children or us as children are the real superheroes We learned how to do the things that we wanted the most we didn't fear what we what we didn't know and we said that You know what?

I don't know what you're doing, but I'm gonna do it myself But as you got older closer to an adult you started to look at other people and say ah, maybe I shouldn't do that Maybe I should go with them.

Maybe because you wanted belonging But as a child you was if he was in the playground you saw a ball and everybody else is on one side You're gonna go for the boys like that one looks good, man I'm gonna go for it when you're looking at all like somebody else's painting, but the other person's Doing dancing or drawing you'll go to which one is excited to you Now as an adult if you see 20 people dancing and two people just standing still You're gonna go to the dancers because you're like Ram hang.

I don't look like a lonely like them I want to look like I want to be the dancer even though you just want to chill crazy, right? So that's how that's that's kind of how I see things See me I think I learned I learned early on in my life that I learned how to kind of live within my means and I learned that I Wasn't materialistic.

So I never really strive to gain Financially in order to get what other people had because I wasn't really bothered about it to be honest I just learned how to live within mommy. Don't get me wrong.

I had moments where I Probably was in situations where I had opportunities to do things to make money in the wrong type of way but to be honest, I ever was It sounds bad, but I was ever too smart to do it because I knew it was a stupid idea Or I was just so bad that I knew I'd get caught.

So I was just like let me just not do that Just like I'm not good at this I'm not good at this life in it like they say me like I do those small things when you like bump the train you Bump the bus like, you know you still sell things to people that are broken you just make a little bit of change on the side or whatever, but I Wasn't into hold all this drug game and all this madness like people trying to get me to jump on AC's I'm just like you're stupid, brother And then all the people that were trying to holler at me to do it ended up getting cool and now they can't get a bank Account.

It's just like that's a myth. So I was just like what's the why that what are you doing it for? I'm not gonna jump on a bandwagon just because everyone else is doing all year But you can make a hundred pound a week or whatever. All right, well, that'd be nice But what am I gonna do it a hundred pound a week? I'm in school.

I don't really I've got everything I need Do I really need to be risking, you know All of that just to make a hundred pound a week and I'm and I have no reason to have make that money Like it's just stupid for me. So I was just like I don't really make no sense So you do what you're doing?

Enjoy your life buy your crepes get your Jordans or whatever and then when you get cool and you end up getting fined like Two grand three grand. That's your business. So I never really Yeah, I never really jumped on that bandwagon.

I was just like, you know, I'm just gonna live with my means just play it smart I know if I work hard eventually, I'm gonna I'm gonna make my money anyways So it's just like do I really need to do that and put myself in a position where I'm gonna make my life more Difficult in the long run.

It just doesn't make no sense Everyone's looking at those short gains in it those short quick gains Let me make some quick money now and then it ends up damaging you in the long run, man It's for me.

It just wasn't worth it Like I don't I don't value Those Avery's jackets that you want to buy and those Jordans that you want to buy and it's just like I'm not bothered about any Is so to me I never really got into it, but I was definitely around it I was around it 100% but I was just like you do what you need to do in it I'm gonna do I need to do that's how I've always been You said something interesting though.

I'm gonna before we move into my voice, but you said something interesting you said the people would say that you can make an extra hundred pounds per week and you said but what do I need it for at this stage of my life and Is it just and is it just so I can buy some Jordans Avery's jacket, etc and that is really interesting, right that's quite profound because You it's like yeah, everybody has a goal.

Like yeah, they would know what they would want to buy with it, right? But you was thinking well, even if I buy this thing is not gonna help my life It's not gonna do anything for me. So they had this goal with no intention There was a goal was I yeah, I'll get the Jordans But these times if he was super young, you're probably still growing.

So you probably just would grow out of them Well, they'll just go out season. So that's very interesting that you said that I yeah, I can get an extra hundred pound But what am I gonna do? What is it for?

But it's very interesting that if you probably had a longer term mindset, like let's say I don't know Which it was he wasn't tall we weren't taught back in intake days because we're all pretty much taught to work for somebody else If we were taught that if you keep if you start making a hundred a week now Then you would be able to work less in the future or something like that or you'd be you'd have this then you would Probably see it different.

But if you but those who have a long-term intention Often won't take the shortcuts as well But then but then we go back to Taj's journey Taj had a long-term intention from the time he was young So the gap between Him making a short a few mistakes or a few things that he wrote that he went down that were a bit wrong What maybe caused him to forget the long-term intention was I think the key would would be patience That might be the key word Let me know if I'm right there Taj of the part where you had you had a long-term intention You know what the goal needed to be per month or per week for example But then the main part that you might have lost was patience Yeah Patience, I really wanted it like now for now.

I Wanted to be wealthy now for now. I wanted to be rich right now. I just wanted it all now You know, so this was me growing up. I just wanted it now You know, I was thinking like how can I get rich?

quick like I was I always used to think of get rich quick scheme, you know, and then Like now like now I prefer just it'll make more sense and I will value it more if I sit down Properly and I just build that wealth gradually Thank you. All right, let's get straight into my next recording.

This one's by me a different outlook to What we've discussed and yeah, let's just let's just roll from there get rich or die trying the money race way Let me tell you like all my life From the time I was young I was just taught how to Get an education Go to college go to uni get a job get a better job buy a house find a family kids retire live your life Imagine that live your life is at the end of the retirement part That's how we were taught as a society And in school to be honest with you Was never really taught how you can work enough and Then you don't have to work anymore and you could live your life way earlier than retirement Like is that really how it is?

Even when we start working and we make a lot of money The society kind of warps us into making us feel that we just have when we get to a certain milestone Something we wish for before it's not enough and we have to wish for something else Pay rises promotions, that is literally what we chase after That's all I could think about is the next milestone the next milestone After a while money doesn't always become the motivator For me changed to wanting more life Wanting to enjoy more moments.

I guess watching my parents. I kind of thought that Well, they work so hard when they're sick. They still have to work When they're struggling they still have to work But my best times I enjoy the most I literally when I'm spending time either in st.

Lucia with family with friends I'm sure that's what life is actually supposed to be about It's no doubt that the world runs on money and we need it and it creates great memories But they are some of the best memories I've had didn't require me to buy crazy things to do it Some of the best memories I had weren't necessarily when I was driving this very fancy car It was literally when I spent it with other people So do we really wait until retirement for us to actually live our lives?

I Broke that rule way earlier on as soon as I could as soon as I started working.

I Was always thinking about how do I work less and more and not because of laziness but because of efficiency So I can be efficient about how I make money so then I can do more of the things I really enjoy I think I really did get Kind of fazed by how my parents lived seeing them work hard and so many days and when they were sick They couldn't even take a break so much When we want to go on holidays limited and then even watching my friends who are maybe struggling trying to figure their way out Thankfully I got into a job or career which really did push Very far and I thrived very well as well But not everybody was able to do that or find a career that is their passion As soon as I lost the passion for my career.

I started to realize wow Making money is a hard thing to do Because you literally go in in and out in and out just so you can make money. It's not the real motivator Life really isn't about the money race For me now.

I'm just trying to figure out how I can make money in the background or as Efficient as possible so I can live my life as much as possible Connect with more people create more memories go to more places travel more These things are way way way better And for all of us need to be in the UK the Caribbean other parts of the country Our best moments in our lives are the times when we're laughing so hard that we're choking or when we are Just enjoying a moment of just being still or when we are Literally just around our family or friends or people that care for us Gives us that warm feeling that are the best moments.

Those should be the milestones of life. That should be the race of life The race being how big can you live? How full can you live? How soon can you live? Your best life the money race that isn't our race our race is how do we become the best that we can be?

Do the best we can be And literally just live it to the fullest And literally just live it to the fullest It's interesting just when you was speaking craig that there was two things that kind of Came to my mind and the first thing was establishing What life is actually like from A financial standpoint for all of us that the typical thing of okay. I go to school. I go to uni I get education. I have a job.

I work for 30 odd years 40 odd years Retire and then I live my life and it's like Well, as soon as you say that how does that make any sense?

First of all, that don't make no sense and the thing is there's people out there that don't live that life and they don't live that life and still have financial stability they have financial freedom and Everything that comes down to just financial education, man um So i'll i'll kind of touch on that in a second But the second thing is I guess with the topic when you was talking about it is the money race And the question is Who are we trying to beat?

Who are we racing against? That's the thing because when it comes down to I guess Gaining financial freedom The only person that can make that happen is you So there's there's no it's not really a competition between me you Targe I don't know whoever else to say Uh, let's who gets there first. Does it really matter who gets there first at the end of the day what we're both or what?

We're all valuing is Being able to get back our own time. We're not necessarily Racing to the finish line to get all of this money What we're just trying to do is try and be happy and have A bit more time for us to value the things and appreciate the things that we want to in life Are we willing to die for that? And that's the question we go back to not even are we willing to die for that? Why are we dying for it?

Because people are Like people getting killed out here every day over money So those are the two things that kind of ran through my mind is How do we get out of that mindset? How do we get out of that mindset of?

The the the willingness the willingness to actually take a life Or kill ourselves in the process In order to gain financial freedom and to beat Someone at a race that isn't even running in in running in the lane next to you. They're in a completely different race They're running a different stadium.

They're not even in the race with you So I don't know who you're racing against for what and then the second thing is how do we I guess build that education to To get out of the cycle um, so our main Sin you can call it is comparison So we are the race is created because we are too busy comparing ourselves to others And we are glorifying monetary things house car clothes jewelry weave We are we are literally glorifying those things which means that when we glorify it We are then attaching our worth To if we have them or not and comparing ourselves.

So this creates the race We can be in completely different industries completely different sides of the world Completely different backgrounds completely different struggles and we are creating the race by comparing ourselves. So because of the glorification of those things That's why we're not glorifying happiness We're not glorifying Laughing so hard that I don't know juice comes at your nose.

You're not glorifying knows it because those moments are private Think about the best moments are private But what we put on social media and what society makes us really focus on are these things what is in our face? So we are and because we're absorbing so much of it.

It just gets worse every time every year it goes by it's getting worse And worse because we're glorifying it so much because technically What would be the the way to stop glorifying? Do we stop glorifying it or do we stop putting giving so much onus on social media and media and things that we absorb?

That that's another that's another question itself and then let's go back to the What was the first part you mentioned? Oh, how do we get education about it?

Or if you step out your comfort zone You will be able to live the life that you want go towards the things that you fear But do not but the thing the things that you fear but cannot get out of your head The joke is is very very rare that the things that you fear that draw to you are monetary That's what's crazy So people are setting goals They're like writing down goals or things they've absorbed or things they think they're supposed to go after Taj was a great example.

He he said like um doctor And maybe a politician because he's seen this right? Telling you that the things that he really strives for inside of himself most likely wouldn't have been those things It wouldn't have been those type of people. It wouldn't have been those type of jobs.

So for me I became a Motivational speaker who is also modeled who loves to go to st Lucia who also has web development in the back of his thing who's an introvert and an extrovert at the same time That's what there's no there's no job for that There's no one person for that So i'm telling people one of the things that you need to understand is your goals that you create Are they really yours or did you get them from somebody else?

Or or society gave them to you like a house a job like I said blah blah and then the second part is I Challenge people to list their fears And go towards them instead And I bet you you will find the life that you was looking for the fears that you don't Can't escape you're like, okay. I have a fear of singing I don't really I know i'm not gonna be a good singer.

So I don't it doesn't drop a note But it's not gonna call to me so I don't like that's not that's like I fear singing but it's not a big deal But like before going on the stage and speaking to people was a complete fear But I always it always come up in my head Taj said that when he was younger things just it just it never left his mind That kept coming up in my head.

So I said one day i'm gonna have to do it dancing was the biggest fear for me I was just I was the man who used to nurse the drink in the corner If I had to nurse drink and they called me to dance I will be in the middle of the dance for nursing drink I ain't moving And then when I went to like 24 25 etc, I started to actually start to explore that do a bit more etc Right.

So that's what I used to do So I I challenge people to list their fears Not their goals and you will find out who you really are And I bet you you will you will go towards the direction you're supposed to go to not what society is making us go to Mad um That's interesting because the one thing that you brought up when you just said that is The things that society tells us to do in order to be Financially stable and that's whether it's a politician whether it's a doctor but Is that really where your heart lies?

And the fact of the matter is if you're only doing that for monetary value Are you really gonna gain anything from doing it?

Because you'll find that if you if you actually do what you're passionate about And you actually work hard The rewards can be 10 times as much as you would get from just doing the job where you think okay This is the i'm gonna get a good wage at this or good salary at this Because you can go and be a doctor and make good money But if you're not good at your job, eventually you're gonna get fired.

So what does it matter? Eventually you'll be like, ah, all right. So for me to get my house for me to get my car. I need to get a good job So cool. I'm gonna go and be a doctor and then your crap doctor you get fired and then what where's your house? Where's your car? You it's it's a stupid idea in it. So for me, it's like It doesn't even it if you think about it Does it really matter what you do?

Because if you're good at what you do and you work hard at what you do The rewards are gonna be a lot more But that includes exactly and that includes financial gain So I think that's where we've got it twisted.

It's not Let me just do the jobs that make good money because that's not what really what's gonna give you what you want You're eventually gonna just you're gonna tire yourself out and it's just gonna be like I can't do this no more And then you're gonna have to reset the clock and be like, okay, where does my heart lie? What do I do?

What do I want to do and you find that you've wasted half your life doing something that you never really wanted in the first place?

Thinking of it deeply I would prefer to do something that I am passionate about To get to where I want to be, you know And at that point in my life that childhood phase like it really didn't matter not just childhood I would also say young adult as well 16 17 18 19 even 20 you know So what simon said is true, you know what simon said as well is true that um Yeah, like it doesn't make sense to want to be a doctor I couldn't do science.

I didn't like science. I couldn't do You're stitching up the wrong body parts I used to just get bioscience But doctors get fit. Well, don't they doctors get fit? Well doctors drive big vehicles. They drive nice cars.

They have nice houses You know their kids are set, you know, so seeing these things For me like as a child, you know with my mentality as a child, you know really did not matter I just wanted to have the type of lifestyle that a doctor did You know, but would I enjoy being a doctor?

No, I don't like blood That's like test number one, that's like the first I don't like seeing people in pain Yeah, you would have been in the wrong job and I could have possibly gotten fired I could have possibly gotten fired because It would have not been in with you know, like I would be going to work on the first, you know, like Man another day in jail another day in jail So yeah, yeah, so Yeah, man, I just happy that I I got out of that phase, you know and Prefer to do something that I am passionate about, you know Because I know I will do it to the best of my ability and I will enjoy the entire process, you know So for me, this is where this is also the fact that I'm enjoying the process It makes me more patient if I was not enjoying the process I would have been very patient But the fact that I am now enjoying the process and getting there gradually Slowly It makes yeah and the fact that I can genuinely do what I do It makes it easier man rather than doing something that is just out of my character, man I'm not going to I have no aspirations of becoming a doctor again I don't like blood And I don't like seeing people in pain, you know, so thinking of it I would have not been able to work for five years I would have not been able to You know, so That's the that's the key thing.

I guess is A lot of I guess we're thinking about the younger generation as well They're quite misguided in the sense that They seem to think their passion. They almost think their passion is making the money Like that so you can ask some of them and it's like, okay, what do you want to do? And they're like, well, I just want to make money.

I want to be rich I want to do something which gets me money like and their passion is that that's what they strive for There's no real There's no real guidance in terms of what do you want to do? It's not just the money that comes into it What do you want to do with your life? What do you enjoy doing? What do you value? But did they really question afterwards? But what are you going to do with that money?

What happens after that? And then you probably think they'll probably be scratching their heads like, uh, i'll be rich in it man's got dough Like okay cool. But what does that mean for you? That that's what you really need to be asking yourself. What does that mean for you? If I gave you a million pounds right now, what would you do with it? You can turn around and say i'm a millionaire. But what is that worth?

Do you want to go on holiday? Do you want to buy a house? Do you want to I don't know get retire your parents? Or that what is the what is the real value in what our money is going to provide for you? Because at the end of the day, we're looking at this as a journey, right?

we're looking at this as the stages of how do we get to that financial freedom and Really truly you don't really want to be going through depression while you're trying to get there You want to be able to enjoy your life as we said, it's a journey. There isn't necessarily an end goal It's a journey.

So you need to be able to find something which you're going to enjoy Is going to give you your time back and something which you're going to be passionate about and happy about Doing while you're trying to get there And I think that's that's kind of the key thing. We all need to figure out I can't craig. I can't give you the answer to that at taj. I can't give you to answer that What is your passion?

What what makes you happy? And that's where we all have our own Individual lanes, which is why I was talking about the money race. It's like we're not racing We're not all in the same race.

We're all in our different Lanes in our different races at different times in different places so As craig you were saying about this whole competitive nature That's what we need to get out of our head Like I could have been a millionaire by 20 Okay, cool craig doesn't mean that you're never going to be financially free It just means that it may happen for you at a later stage in life and that's fine There's no there's nothing wrong with that And that's what I think we need to get out of our head is Stop thinking.

Ah, well Why are you beating me to it?

Like that's a problem for me like you shouldn't be making more money than me like that's that's an issue now either i'm gonna have to take you out or Like i'm gonna have to find a way to like slow you down so I can step up my game or so It's like no, we shouldn't be working like that And the easiest and I guess for our community as well is about Elevating each other Someone's always gonna do it first It's gonna happen someone's always gonna like set the path in order to help others Who come after them?

So if craig you find a way to make I don't know a million pounds and you educate the rest of people on how to do it We're all elevating together rather than it being a race. We're just supporting each other on that journey And I think that's the thing that we all need to start Shifting our mindset towards is how do we support each other rather than how do we knock each other down? Because it gets us nowhere man.

It really it doesn't get us anywhere Oh, you're completely right Yeah, you're completely right And I know some of the questions that we have from our audience actually kind of ties that straight into it as well um, so we'll pretty much kind of Round that up and straight go straight into the questions.

Our audience wants to know too So This is the part of the podcast where we pull some of the questions from our listeners and we're going to just answer them Openly and any of them that we don't get around to we'll be making we'll make sure to discuss in our social media sometime in the future um, so first question for you guys is one of the questions actually if you had a 1 million, what would you do with it, but You already kind of you kind of touched on that several times I'm gonna i'm gonna go to the next one, which I really like is becoming rich really everything and if not, what is Todd you want to go first what in well While growing up like i've learned like right now At this stage of my life I don't believe that getting rich is everything Getting rich is not everything I believe that happiness comes first, you know passion comes first.

Whatever i'm passionate about I believe like right now this comes this kind of comes first because it doesn't make sense to be rich. I'm not happy You're not going to enjoy being rich if you're not happy.

So right now at this stage in my life I don't believe like getting rich is everything However, I do believe that helping the people that I love and care about is my happiness So being at a stage where I can help the people that I love and care about Would be success to me as I've mentioned before so this would be my rich helping the people that I love and care about This would be my rich Um Rich isn't being everything.

Nope hundred percent would not say that at all. Um What is everything? Is life I think life is everything you breathing you waking up you being able to Spend time with the people that you love the people that are around you At least for me, that's everything like The money is is secondary to it may even be third to any of that is Life comes first man. 100 life is everything because without life, what do you have?

I agree. Uh again a lot of people have put Uh put money as the Thing above life or life is to make money but you people forgetting that money is only the one one piece of your life So how does that become the number one thing that we're supposed to live by?

Um, once again, we only have this journey once time is not promised either And money seems to have this kind of fleeting effect where every time you get more you want more um And it means that will never end really in reality the whole process of life and the journey is what we enjoy Again, if you everybody believes that they're going to live until 80 or 90, right? But what if he was going to live until 30?

How would you live different if he's going to live into 20 would you again imagine this imagine? He was only going to live until 20 before you became an adult to even have to buy a house Or how would you change your life? How would your your youth be? Would your youth even be focused on money knowing that it could just end when you're 20?

Crazy, right if we had to say that our 50 of the population die at 20 The other 50 get to live until 40 What happens what would you choose?

Yeah, well, you don't have that Exactly, and we don't have that choice and that happens now That happens now and we don't realize that so yeah, it's something that I like that That's my that because even as you said that it's like we're we're all living a life of uncertainty And the thing is this is one of the topics that we spoke about is even when we're saying Well, what would you do?

Knowing that tomorrow isn't promised or you with the pandemic and everything No one really knew what was happening how life was gonna have to work and how would we have to adjust and it was like What would we do in those moments and we all started doing crazy stuff We started listening off thing.

I started doing random stuff like just dyeing my hair doing crazy hairstyles things I had never done before but wanting to do I started getting into like stocks and shares and again just Just doing things different to what I hadn't done before but the fact of the matter is We're always living a life of uncertainty Because we could die tomorrow Like as you just said craig, what if half of us die at 20 and half of us die at 40?

What the reality is that is actually possible. How do we know? So that's mad that's actually mad. Yeah, think about that boy something to think about another topic for us there um The next question is what should we teach our kids on how to live their life in relation to money? Would it be the typical education job and retirement? Oh This is a oh, okay.

Well, I got kids so I know I kind of I kind of know where my head is at with this one already and I haven't obviously my kids are still young so I haven't quite Got to the stage of kind of educating them about money, but I have Especially with my eldest tried to get them into certain habits um even stuff like teaching them just the value of money and being able to To save being able to set goals and targets like my eldest is going to be 11 this year Um, she might even be 11 when this comes out her ass But i'm basically up for her 10th birthday I bought her a atm machine Yeah, exactly imagine that I bought her atm machine comes with her own little credit card and basically I I was at a stage of giving her like pocket money for when she does chores around the house and stuff and in the atm machine you can basically like set targets of Certain things that you want to achieve and she wanted to she originally said she wanted to get Like two a thousand pounds or something and then it ended up going to a hundred pounds.

Was that cool? so she hit her target and then I basically asked her well, what do you want to do with that money? And she said i'm gonna hold it there I'm just gonna hold it there until I figure out what I want to do with it And it's just giving her because what i've tested her on as well is saying okay when she comes to me She's like, oh dad, can I get this?

I'm like, well if you really want it, you know, you've got money there to buy it, right? It's starting to give her that insight into Money doesn't come from nowhere. Like I have now the money And I have things that I want Is it really of value to me for me to be able to spend that money on that thing? So it's giving her a bit more of an understanding about How she can manage her finances?

so it for me as a parent teaching teaching her about Getting a job and then retirement and stuff.

I haven't necessarily had that conversation But what i've always kind of driven into her is do what you love do what you're passionate about so I definitely think there's going to be a conversation where we kind of work on that a little bit more but i've already tried to instill in her about the value of money and in terms of like Work, it's more it's not necessarily about What people tell you you should be doing is about what you want to do?

And how you should how's how money is going to be a tool in order to get what you want? And that's kind of where i'm going with it So that's I thought that one was funny because it's like well saman goes. Oh, hey dad. I want this And saman goes well you have the money.

It's gonna take half of what you saved of all those chores to get it Oh, you know what dad that thing ain't even that good anyway That's interesting I like that I like that Um, i'll answer this one and I have kids yet myself, um, but I'll answer this one.

Um My my my belief is Go towards your passion now people often think that passion is this one destination this one thing But in reality passion is often um Well, not even often it is the thing that brings you to life So that can be always changing always evolving or it changes of your age at 10 You want your you have a passion at 15.

You have a different passion at 20 You have a different passion 25 20 like all these ages So go towards your passion and what I ideally want to set as a foundation similar So what my parents did is that my my kids will have anything that they want When once they're able to show that they can work for it And but more so in the future to go even further is that they do not have to kill themselves for this capitalist world Of working crazy hours and crazy competition and crazy salary increase and crazy promotions just to get by Okay That's me.

What about you taj taj? Do you have any younger sip? You have younger siblings, right? You said about your your other siblings For me personally, it's just your passion is what your passion is about My question to you is or my question to myself is how can I help you to get to where you want to be?

How can I get you to help how can I help you to get to what your passion is about, you know so If your passion if if what you would love to be if you're good in science and your goal is to be a doctor How can I help you get there?

You know If your goal is to be a a singer You feel like hey school is not suiting me Well, you know like i'm a really really really good singer and I see myself as being a you know An idol around the world as a singer then how can I get you there, you know, because I mean I believe like into this world like right now education is very important It no matter what field you are in Education is very important but I think the passion kind of comes first, you know the passion kind of comes first But you know one thing actually I love actually about Kind of what i'm doing with my eldest because my youngest is free So she don't even know what i'm going for money right now boy, but my eldest My eldest is basically like At first it's a it's a shift there's starting to be a shift in perspective when it comes to her relationship with money that i've noticed um Because I remember it was probably It might have been this time last year She said something to me and she was like she was asking me for a whole bunch of stuff and I was just like You know what?

I said, I can't remember the conversation was what basically I said I'm not spending my money on that. I'm not going to spend money on that and she was like, oh dad Why are you so tight with money? Why are you so cheap? How is that raw?

Okay, cool but then it Her perspective is now starting to shift because she's starting to understand when I had that conversation with her about okay You can buy you've got the money to buy this. Why don't you buy it now?

She's just like oh, I don't think I want to spend my money on that so she's starting to understand where her Values are and what she really wants to do with the money that she has and she's starting to get And I had a had a bit of a bit of a proud moment. It's a bit of a weird thing, but We was going to to tesco's and we was doing some shopping and then she's like, oh dad. Um I want to I want to do some baking today.

I want to do this. I want to do that I was like, yeah, sure sure And then she got this girl is 10 and she goes to me don't worry dad. I'll pay free. I've got the money I was like, yeah, she goes. Yeah. Yeah, it's all good. I was like, okay cool So she went there with a little 10 pound note or whatever and she ended up paying for some like little bakery bits and I was like You're you're getting it. You're getting it.

You're understanding How you can use this as a tool and it's not a case of You being tight it's a case of well, what do you value?

Like that moment of her just buying Little bits to bake a cake knowing that when we go home, we're gonna spend time together and we're gonna have a nice Quality time just baking and whatever she saw the value in that and she was like I'm willing to spend my 10 pound on this because that's the moment I can have with my dad How's that? Someone's about cry at that moment Yeah No, that's powerful.

That's actually what you do how you said that How you said that was really powerful that she found the value in in spending time to bake. She could have just bought cakes She could have bought cakes She said I want to bake with dad too. That's crazy That's crazy. I want to be like you and I grew up some Um That's powerful now, thank you. Thank you both of you those questions Thank you everybody for those questions.

Um, I really hope this was kind of gave you a good Insight into the the typical get rich die trying kind of thing Um, and I definitely haven't had a conversation like this about it as well Um, we're gonna round up really quickly. Um, really just a food for thought. I won't go be too long on my other part.

Um, Food for thought is just around what we kind of feel about this and kind of leave the Some words or some something with the the guests audience.

Sorry and My one would be passion is what brings you to life that is forever changing that is forever Growing and evolving So you must grow with it if you want to be able to know that you live a life that was full And also do not chase your goals that were given to you Or adopted by other people chase your fears and you would really find out who you really are And live the life that you really look um that you really want Okay for you simon, um my food for thought is Run your own race run your own race there's there's It's not it's not a competition.

It's not a competitive race. It's you be internal vision focusing on what you want and Understanding that The end goal isn't money. The end goal is is what you value Uh using money as obviously a tool in order to achieve that but Yeah, run your own race. Don't watch anybody else um And yeah, follow your passion passion, man, follow your passion and do what you think is right for you Yes, what about you tosh?

Well, my one would be to find your god-given purpose and Fulfill it and fulfill it with ways that is within your character Don't step out of your character to fulfill your god-given purpose, you know Always stay within your character, you know You will end up in a situation like myself where i'm regretting times that I stepped out of my character To fulfill what I really wanted to do, you know, so stay find your god-given purpose And stay within your character to fulfill it as you will enjoy it more It will be a happier process definitely for you That's perfect now tosh you you made the mistakes, but you've been able to help other people So we appreciate you being able to be transparent and sharing it with other people because a lot of people are in the same Situation that you are need to be where you are in dummika or in the uk So we appreciate it regardless just to say that it's not nobody has like this perfect perfect path And you still end up reaching the place that you want to be that's good Yeah, yeah, so thank you everybody Taj amazing.

Thank you for being part of the panel as well.

I'm really really Really honored to have you and kind of get a completely different outlook on how life is on the other side of the world Um, so once again everybody this platform isn't just about us talking to you Um get involved ask questions continue the conversation open up to us about your views and your experiences especially about getting rich Um, just your life of working and money Um, if you enjoyed this podcast and want to be want to do something to help us out consider liking sharing And remember to follow us at talking to my thoughts to stay up to date with all our latest content Thank you for listening, and we really hope that you enjoyed this podcast Thank you everybody.
