A short Christmas conversation from Craig and Simon about being merry, and about the people who are not.

SPECIAL: Happy Holidays

Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

In this conversation

A holiday check-in, not a sermon. They wish people well across different celebrations and ask listeners to notice what they have.

What the recording covers

  • They greet Christmas, New Year, Hanukkah and anyone who does not celebrate Christmas.
  • They suggest leaving the rest of the year's worry for the day you are in, even if you hear it after Christmas.
  • They say not everyone is having the smile-and-presents version, so gratitude is the smaller ask.

Questions to sit with after you listen

  1. What can you actually enjoy today, without fixing the whole year?
  2. Who near you is not having the version of the holiday the adverts show?

What's going on everybody? Merry Christmas to you. Merry Christmas to you, yo. Bruv, that's the birthday song, that's not Christmas. Yeah, but they liked it though, didn't it? It's cool. No, no, no. Say your Merry Christmas. Bruv, no, no, no, no. I'm not even gonna do it. I'm thinking about it for one second.

Yes, but everybody, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, all that good stuff, for people that don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, and all of them. All of them. All of them too. It's all welcome. It's all welcome. What's the best song that you know? Rudolph. Yeah. Sing the thing. No, don't err me. This is terrible. I should know all the Christmas songs by now. I don't know.

You've got three fingers up, but you only got one song. Wait, hold on. What are the Christmas songs? You've got five now. Anyway, guys, guys, Merry Christmas to you. Happy Holidays as well. All the things, everybody who celebrates Christmas, don't celebrate Christmas, everything, we're here to say, Happy Day, Good Day, and everything to you. We're here with Craig Riviere. And we're here with Simon aka, oh sorry.

You know there's a deal, Craig Riviere aka Mr Positive, you're just hiding. Oh, you're not anyway. Go on, your time now Simon, your time. Oh, this is terrible. Simon aka SJ. As you can tell, we're a bit more relaxed, chilled out and everything. There's no listening to our thoughts and stuff like that. We're here to just give you some good vibes and good energy. Just say it's a good day. We're happy as you can tell.

You know, honestly, we're probably pre-recording this, but it's okay, you know, it don't even matter. Why would you give that away? Yeah, no, but you've got to say it. Nah man, it's live, it's live, it's live. It's not live, it's not live. I'm on the beach right now. Right now, I'm probably on the beach in St. Lucia. Where are you? I'm probably in my house, eating my stuff in my face with something.

Oh yeah, I hope you've got stuff in your face. Don't worry about the diets and all of that, man. Just eat your food, trust me. Yeah man, that's the New Year resolution, innit? But seriously, man, we just wanted to say Merry Christmas to you. I really, really, really hope that you're having a good Christmas wherever you're listening to this.

And if you're listening to this, that's grateful because you probably want a phone, computer, TV, whatever it is. It's a mad one. I'm almost thinking, why are you not doing other stuff? Because it's Christmas time, you should be with family. You know, that's a bit of a mad one, but don't scare people. Don't scare them, don't scare them, don't scare them.

But still, even if you're listening to this after Christmas, it's definitely not before Christmas, but after Christmas, we still want to wish you a good day. I hope you had a great Christmas, having a great Christmas, going to have a great Christmas. And you know what?

It's just about good vibes for us, for me personally, about family time, having time for yourself, stuffing up your belly, don't worry about training and all that. You can train if you want to, but you know what? Get the food in, get the food in. A hundred, man. Yeah. For me, I guess right now as well is just family time, the time to reflect as well.

Looking back at the year, how the year's been, thinking about your ambitions for the following year and just, well, a lot of the time we say be present, so it's all about, again, when you've got that time away from work, just be present with your family, be present with your loved ones, celebrate life, be joyous, all of that stuff, man. So yeah, that's definitely what I'm going to be doing anyway.

Yeah, because I know a lot of you will be working real hard all year and you're like, then it's Christmas time, you're like, so can I get some overtime shifts? It's like, look. Double pay, double pay.

I hope you didn't take the overtime shift and you're just listening on your couch or wherever you are and chilling out because as Simon said, it's just about us being a bit more present and just enjoying the moment that we have right now. We're alive or breathing.

You're listening to this podcast, so I know you're doing all right, you know, like for money, like you at least got this internet mobile bill and stuff like that. You're doing all right. You're doing all right. So you know, all the things you were worrying about before for the rest of the year, leave that behind because it's all gone now. Just about right in the moment, right on this day, enjoying it.

Even if you're not listening on Christmas, it don't matter. Trust me. Yeah, man. I mean, as I said, this is more so a time for you to just be a little bit more reflective. This podcast, literally for this Christmas special anyway, isn't necessarily about us talking too much about our thoughts, but it's just about, again, just reflection and giving you guys a chance to just be merry, man. That's what it's all about.

That's why we say Merry Christmas. We be in merry. There you go. Even though Simon was kind of hating him, I think, and I don't even sing. You ain't got to do all of that, man. That's disrespect, I don't know. Just DM and say, look, Simon, stop putting abuse on man's name. But seriously, man, we're in a happy mood, as you could tell, and we just hope that you're doing really, really great as well.

And thank you so far for listening to our talk, talking to our thoughts podcast, new things, and you know, there's going to be so much more next year. And yeah. One thing I do want to say, actually, because even though we're talking about reflection and it is a joyous time for a lot of people, some people aren't always in that position as well. Like for some people, Christmas is quite a difficult time.

So it's just, again, about thinking back on your life and thinking about any happy moments you may have and thinking about what you want to do for the future and just being, I guess, a little bit more proactive and a little bit more, what's the word, like, just think that it's not always going to be as bad as it is right now. That's actually true.

And even as you kind of mentioned, not everybody is enjoying themselves completely at Christmas time. Some people may be homeless or actually have food. So look, if you have extra food, try to not think about throwing it away. Maybe find a way that you can give it to a soup kitchen or something.

If you have extra cans, anything like that that you want or presents that you just know you're not going to use or you don't want, find a way that you can give it to somebody else. If you have extra money or anything like that, pass it to someone else. You know, like, I think we always try to, we in ourselves, we would like to be charitable, but charity happens in many ways. It's not just monetary.

There's items that we don't use. There's food that we are willing to share. There's money as well, but there's also just time. Sometimes it's a soup kitchen, you just walking around singing some hymns to somebody more than just rainbows or rain, whatever song. Rudolf, that man there.

And other than just that, charity is giving up your time and your energy and maybe just messaging a few people and saying, look, happy Christmas. Even if you ain't spoken to him and you know, you had a bit of a few, they stepped on your toe or whatever. They took your man. Anyway, it's a bit mad, but you know what I'm saying? Just let go and enjoy and share some love with everybody, you know? For real.

Time to give back. It's a time to celebrate, but it's also a time to give back as well. And again, you just got to think about you may be at home with your family, opening presents, having a smile on your face, best time of your life. Not everyone has that opportunity, man. Not everyone is going through that same thing. So again, it's just being reflective, giving back where you can.

And yeah, man, as I said, just moving forward for the future. So I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas at least. And if you're not, then at least think about the fact that it's only going to get better. It's not going to, you can only go up. So just be merry if you can. Yeah, man. As Simon said, enjoy yourself, be merry.

Or at least, least, least, least, if you're listening to this podcast, be grateful for what you have right now. So thank you for listening. Thank you for having us. It was Craig Revere. And it was Simon, A-K-E-S-J. Oh, now you're going to put your thing on. I know, I know. I'm getting excited now. Merry Christmas, everybody, and have a great day. Peace.
